In Lille, France, Tariq Ramadan urged support of the people of Gaza, and mobilization among Muslims to support the Palestinian people, and also denounce anti-Jewish sentiments: “we are against all racism, against anti-Semitism” but criticizing or rejecting Israeli policy is not tantamount to anti-Semitism. Ramadan called for an “awaking of the conscience” and a “reasoned mobilization over the long term.”
