Sanremo – “We have organized a celebration for the Senegalese community and overall for all Muslims in Sanremo” said Chekik Lo “which is almost 300 people.”

There are almost 300 Muslims in sanremo approximately 150 of these Muslims are Senagelese according to Chekik Lo, representative of the association Dahira Miftahoul Khouyor in Sanremo, who has planned for today a day of meetings and prayer dedicated to the doctrine of “Muridismo” (Mouride in English). This afternoon, in addition to other events, Serigne Mame Mor Mbacke, grandson of Cheik Ahmadou Bamba, founder of the doctrine will visit the festivities.

“We have organized this celebration for the Senegalese community and overall for the Muslims in Sanremo which is around 300 people made up of Senegalese, Pakistani, North African and Sri Lankans.” The meeting in Sanremo is important because Sanremo is a center for province’s Muslims. The celebration is usually held in Genoa, but this year organizers wanted to draw attention to this community.
