Threat comes from stay at home jihadis

The Dutch Secret Security Service (AIVD) writes in its annual report 2014 that the threat for (terrorist) attacks more often comes from jihadis that haven’t travelled abroad to Syria or Iraq. They might feel motivated and inspired by IS members calling upon Jihadis to commit attacks in their home country. The attacks in Paris and Copenhagen in the beginning of 2015 are seen as examples of such. The AIVD estimates the number of jihadis in the Netherlands around hundreds and the number of sympathizers around thousands.
