AlKhattab Foundation wants to distribute free Qurans in 13 Dutch cities on Kings’ Day. Ali Houri explains that the foundation aims to inform people in a modern way about Islam and to counterbalance the negative imaging of Islam, caused by actions of Islamic State and attacks by extremists.
The participating Muslims all have found sponsors, so they were able to buy Quran’s for 1 euro a piece. Fehd el Ouali, who organizes the project in Rotterdam and already has some experience with the preaching of Islam in the streets, tells that he never encounters much problems. According to him, most Dutch non-Muslims want to receive a Quran so they can form their own opinion, independent of what the media tells them.
