Regional Council of the French Faith

“We condemn this horror. This act is horrible, cowardly, unspeakable, heinous… It is difficult to find the words in such circumstances,” said Amine Nedji. The President of the Regional Council of the Muslim Faith of Lorraine added: “We are victims, as are all Frenchmen, of an act of terrorism which follows no logic.” Nejdi denounced the attacks of “savages who acted blindly.”

The regional president spoke against amalgamations and Islamophobia. “Yes, we fear an increase in tension, as mosques in Vandoeuvre, Tomblaine, and Toul have already been targeted in the last several years. But beyond our fears for cultural edifices, we are most preoccupied with protecting Muslims. The number of Islamophobic acts has increased considerably in France within the last months. The amalgam will be reinforced.”

“This Saturday, many members of the community were broken. If security measures for protecting mosques were taken last January, we will discuss with the prefecture whether they should be strengthened. But parents regularly express their fear for their children who come to the places of worship.”
