Police around Europe arrested at least 20 suspected Islamic extremists in an operation targeting an Italy based network that allegedly trained and dispatched suicide bombers from Italy into battle Iraq and Afghanistan. The network allegedly gave training in explosives and bombing tactics to predominantly immigrants of North African background. Italian investigators arrested most of the suspects in raids across the north of the country, suspected of sending at least 10 fighters to Iraq between 2003 and 2007.
