Jack could soon be overtaken by Mohammed in a poll of the top boys’ names in the UK. According to the Office of National Statistics (ONS), the trend has been fuelled by high birth rate among Muslim families. Currently, Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities have a higher birth rate than any other ethnic group. ONS research also shows that the birth rate of women born in Pakistan but living in the UK is now three times higher than that of British-born women.
