Bank drops piggy-bank present

Until recently, children who opened a savings account at the Fortis bank would receive a free welcome gift of a piggy-bank. The gesture has been part of the bank’s gestures for years, and an estimated tens of thousands of children had received the piggy-bank gift. However, as the animal is a touchy issue for some Jews and Muslims, the bank wrote an internal document saying that the piggy-bank does not fulfill the requirements of a multicultural society. The spokesperson for Fortis preferred not to discuss the issue, but confirmed that after seven years, the welcome gift would be replaced with a more culturally sensitive item. It is not yet disclosed what the new welcome gift would be.
