French screen icon Brigitte Bardot was convicted and fined in Paris on June 3 for inciting discrimination and racial hatred toward the country’s Muslim population. This is her fifth conviction on similar charges in 11 years. Bardot was fined 15,000 Euros for her letter to then-interior minister Nicolas Sarkozy stating, I’ve had enough of being led by the nose by this whole population which is destroying us, (and) destroying our country by imposing their ways. Now a self-proclaimed animal rights activist, Bardot, 73, is particularly critical of the slaughter of sheep duing _Eid Al-Adha, an important religious festival in the Islamic calendar.
