Muslim-American files bias suit against Wal-Mart

An Arab and Muslim American man filed a $12 million lawsuit against Wal-Mart, saying that he was discriminated against by employees and was fired because of his background. Louay Kezy of Dearborn, Michigan, filed the suit accusing Wal-Mart and three employees at its Dearborn store of violating his civil rights through harassment, threats, and dismissal after he complained about the employees’ conduct. Kezy, who was the only Arab or Muslim to work in the stockroom at the time, said he endured jokes about terrorists and was threatened by other workers. Kezy’s lawyer said the managers did nothing to stop the behavior.
