Europe: European protests call for end to Gaza conflict

Government officials and Jewish leaders are concerned that the conflict in Gaza may spill over in Europe, as demonstrations and protests amount, and attacks against Jews and synagogues have been reported. Rallies have been held in London, Paris, Berlin, Glasgow, Rome, Athens, Milan, several Scandinavian capitals, and several other cities – often drawing tens of thousands. Demonstrators waved Palestinian flags, changed slogans denouncing Israeli soldiers – some of these slogans included: “Gaza will not surrender to the tanks and bulldozers” and “Don’t fear, Gaza, we are with you.” Israeli flags were also burned during some protests.
