Spanish soldier arrested over posting ‘jihad’ videos on the internet

Spanish police arrested a Spanish solder and his girlfriend for allegedly posting videos on the internet promoting Islamist extremist views and calling for attacks in Spain according to the Ministry of Interior. The 23-year-old suspects, both Muslim, were arrested in the city of Granada. The investigation began last June when police detected videos calling for Islamist attacks; a total of 11 radical videos were posted, and the suspected allegedly had online contact with 200 people in Europe and the Middle East who were favorable to “international jihad.” “They wanted to use the Internet to distribute messages to encourage people in the Muslim world to carry out terrorist attacks in Spain, mixing nostalgic calls for the liberation of Al Andalus with praise of terrorists,” said police.
