Baroness Warsi named Britain’s most powerful Muslim woman
Baroness Warsi of the Conservative Party was announced Britain’s most powerful Muslim Woman. She is the Shadow Minister for Community Cohesion and Social Action and now headed the first Muslim Women Power List. This list is an initiative by the Equality and Human Rights Commission, The Times and Muslim life style magazine Emel, which seeks to pay tribute to successful women who have to face a lot of stereotypes and prejudices.
At the same time, a survey has revealed how much Muslim women are ambitious and seeking a career. A third of working Muslim women said they can imagine themselves becoming chief executive or leader of the organisation they work for, three quarters of all Muslim women polled think it possible to balance a successful career with a family and nearly eight out of ten of working Muslim women believe it likely that Britain will have a female Muslim Member of Parliament in the next ten years. The survey has been produced on behalf of the Equality and Human Rights Commission ahead of the award ceremony.
