The Archbishop of Canterbury has praised Muslims for bringing religion back into public

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, stated in an interview with the Muslim News that he is delighted to see how much Islam has brought religion back into the public debate. British society, which has become “rather unfriendly” towards religious people must discuss religion openly, and Islam has greatly contributed to stirring up the debate. The Archbishop himself has caused a lot of discussion when he put forward that Shari’a will inevitably and also should be introduced partly into British law. He faced calls to resign but refused and has, moreover, reaffirmed his view one year later.
