A 46 year old Moroccan man has been arrested in Andria, charged with mental and physical abuse of his family, and grievous bodily harm. He was described as a domineering father who imposed many restrictions on his children’s lives: he prevented his 20 year old daughter from dating an Italian boy, and his 16 year old son from wearing an earring, considering such behavior as not appropriate for Muslims. The police state that the man had been terrorizing his entire family for a long time and even threatened to kill his children. It was his wife who denounced this daily maltreatment, especially towards the son and the daughter because of their wish to act like their Italian contemporaries.
