French Scholar of Islam, Mohamed Arkoun, dies

Mohamed Arkoun, a French scholar of Islam, has died in Paris at 82. Arkoun was a professor emeritus in the history of Islamic thought at the Sorbonne. He was born in 1928 in Taourit-Mimoun, a Kabylian village. He wrote a great deal about the linkages between Jewish, Christian and Islamic theologies.
