05.05.2011

On Thursday, the German-Syrian Rami M. confessed to being a member of the Al Qaeda network in the opening day of his trial in Frankfurt/ Main. The 25-year-old confessed to being part of the terror organization and having received training by them in a terrorist camp in Pakistan. Following his arrest by Pakistani security forces last summer and his subsequent extradition to Germany, Rami M. is believed to have given information to German intelligence services about potential terror attacks in Germany, which, then, led to an increase in security measures at German airports and train stations. As he submitted a complete confession, he was given the relatively mild prison-sentence of 4.5 to 5 years.
