Progress Made in Founding the Islam-Institute in Osnabrück

Following the launch of Germany’s first Centre for Islamic theology in Tübingen (as reported), the second centre is soon to be launched at the University of Osnabrück. Last week, the university and the Islamic associations involved in developing the centre founded the Institute’s Academic Consultative Committee, which is an important step towards opening the institute. From October 2012 onwards, the centre offers Islamic theology courses. With seven professors for Islamic theology, the centre in Osnabrück will by Germany’s biggest Centre for Islamic theology.
