Skirt “too long”: the decision of the college supported by Ciotti and Belkacem

A French middle school has prevented a student from attending classes on the ground she was wearing a skirt that was ‘too long” and thus considered as an “ostentatious religious signs”, now banned since the March 15, 2004 law.

The school has received the support of both the conservative UMP party of Sarkozy and the Socialist Minister of Education Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, who “praised the lucidity” of the school authorities because they have not expelled the girl, but “just” prevented her from attending class.
