Muslim Theological Council of France delivers its wishes (official statement)

Statement by the Muslim Theological Council of France (CTMF) for the beginning of Ramadan 2015.

“ ‘O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.’ (Coran, chapter 2, v. 183)

‘The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Coran, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion.’  (Coran, chapter 2, v. 185).

The Prophet (May Allah honor him and grant him peace): ‘Whoever observes Ramadan well, expecting the reward from God, his past sins are forgiven.’

At the time of the blessed month of Ramadan the Muslim Theological Council of France delivers its best wishes to all the world’s Muslims, and in particular the Muslims of France, by wishing them an agreeable fast and worship in mediation. It prays that this blessed month is a month of forgiveness and atonement.

The Theological Council reminds that the month of Ramadan is the month during which the Coran was revealed. For this reason, it invites Muslims to pay particular attention to the Book of God these days and nights through recitation and meditation. Ramadan is also the month of prayer, recollection, and invocation, the month of morality, kindness, pardoning of others, the month of generosity, sharing, helping the poor, the needy, orphans and refugees and victims of war, from misery and poverty throughout the world.

The Theological Council advises those Muslims of France to remember the purpose of fasting in hopes to attain piety and spiritual growth, and to use this month as an occasion for gathering among themselves and their fellow citizens. It is essential to spare neighbors any discomfort this month when going to the mosque, notably for nighttime prayers. Good neighborliness is an act of faith and charity.”

May God give us the blessing of this month and approve of our fasting and prayers.
