Iranian Nobel Peace winner claims that the full-face veil is not Islamic

2003 Nobel peace prize winner Shirin Ebadi has told the French press that the full-face veil – the burqa and niqab – is not part of authentic Islamic practice. Ebadi says, “For example, if one goes on a pilgrimage to Mecca and women have their faces fully covered, the pilgrimage is not valid.”
