Actress Geena Davis joined Sarah Ferguson (Duchess of York) and Tariq Cheema, (chair of the World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists) at a U.N event to promote women rights and equality. U.N. Secretary-general Ban Ki-Moon attended the event and pressed for the UN Economic and Social Council agenda regarding woman’s right, namely economic development for women and ending violence against women. Tariq Cheema also announced the launch of “Empowerment Through Enlightenment,” a global awareness initiative targeting male population accompanied with skill-enhancement training for female.
