A Letter From Malcolm X’s Pilgrimage To Mecca Was Found In A Storage Locker

A six-page, handwritten letter documenting Malcolm X’s pilgrimage to Mecca in 1964 was found in a California storage locker, and is now being sold for $1.25 million, the New York Post reports.
The 51-year-old letter is being sold by California memorabilia dealer Moments in Time. The seller, Gary Zimet, told Page Six the historic artifact was almost discarded.  In the letter, the Civil Rights activist recounts his experiences of being surrounded by “Muslims of all colors.”
“If white Americans could accept the religion of Islam . . . they, too, could then sincerely accept the Oneness of Men, and cease to measure others always in terms of their ‘difference in color,’ ” he wrote. “And with racism now plaguing America like an incurable cancer, all thinking Americans should be more respective to Islam as an already proven solution to the race problem.”
