On Friday February 19 the imam Sheikh Khalid Yasin spoke in the city district of Nørrebro allegedly to prevent young people from joining gangs. Yasin was born in Harlem, New York and grew up as a Christian in Brooklyn. Inspired by Malcolm X he converted to Islam in 1965. Controversial imam Khalid Yasin has been permitted to give a number of speeches in the Netherlands, but will be prosecuted if he incites hatred. Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin told MPs that Yasin cannot be refused entry unless he has been proved to be a danger to national security or public order.
