Vatican: Interfaith Conference calls for curbs on youth extremism

An interfaith conference in Rome organized by the Vatican and the Libyan-based World Islamic Call Society, urged religious leaders to help curb youth extremism. “Religious leaders have a special responsibility towards youth, who require particular attention so that they do not fall victim to religious fanaticism and radicalism, receiving rather, a sound education thereby helping them to become bridge builders and peace makers,” said the conference’s final communiqué. Leading Catholic and Muslim scholars attended the 11th annual conference.
